The Power of Purple?

During one of my veg out on the couch and watch television, summer days, I somehow came across a rerun episode of Tyra Bank's talk show. This specific episode studied colors and their effect on our attitude, thoughts, and feeling.

An audience member asked what the best color to decorate your kitchen would be if you were hoping to lose weight and not feel hungry often. I can't say that I really remember the science behind it, but it was determined that the best color for this specific need was the color purple.

Needless to say, I got thinking..."a purple kitchen...really?"...

I can't say that I'm completely sold on the idea of a purple kitchen, but these next few images are definitely more do-able and not quite as shocking...

I'm usually not a fan of a lavender like purple, but this subdued color tone works well in the kitchen cabinets and tiles.
This kitchen seems like it has several different shades of purple, and the pops of other colors help tone the purple down. Love the movable island/bar.

I don't think that I'd ever have the courage to paint my kitchen cabinets, or kitchen walls for that matter, purple, but maybe some pops of purple would do...?

How about some funky purple chairs?
Or a pop of gorgeous purple flowers?
LOVE this rug! I'd love to put this under my kitchen or dining room table any day.

So, what do you think? Would you paint your kitchen cabinets a powerful purple or just sticks with pops of it? xo

Pops only! I do not like purple in large doses. Not even to lose weight! ;) I will have to show my niece these kitchens because she loves purple and loves to match it with white.

Tracy,

I definitely agree! I'm not a big purple fan in general, so it was hard for me to find purple kitchens that I even kind of liked.

I hope your niece enjoys the images! xo
