This week I am hoping to tackle the small task of doing some pretty things to the bookshelves in our house. We only have three bookshelves in our home (2 small, 1 big), so it shouldn't be too big of a job. Just a few images that I'm looking to for inspiration...
I'm definitely considering adding wallpaper to the back of the shelves.
Love the mix of books and other objects.
Of course, the popular rainbow bookshelf.
I really like the mix of the books sitting horizontally and vertically. I plan to do this on some of our shelves.
Do you guys think small details {like pieces on bookshelves} are important? I think they can totally make a room! x

I totally agre with you! Its a fine line between being too cluttered and stylish so i think they take a lot of thought. I like the old battered suitcases and the monochrome look and the rainbow bookshelf!

i love mixing objects with books... but it definitely takes some planning, so you don't get a cluttered look! i'm loving 1, 3, 7 & 8!

I totally agree, I like to display pieces to break up the shelves. I still have yet to finish our shelves, and I think I need to do so rainbow organizing... guess I need to start over again
I need to do this! I have a beautiful hutch but I haven't quite figured out the placement of everything on it. Make sure you post the final re do! :)
I wish we had bookshelves in our apartment! Love all of the inspiration... my fave is the rainbow bookshelf :) I've adored this look for a while.

I agree- they make a room! I"m all about the details! I also like the vertical and horizontal action. It will add interest to the eye!
I think decorating a bookcase is like decorating a mantel. The right pieces, placed in the spot, can really add character to a space! :)
My bookshelves are a mix of books and pieces and I like to place the books vertically and horizontally.... I think it's fun!

i think they are SO important. this post makes me excited to re-arrange my bookshelves!
I just wrote about bookshelves on my blog not too long ago - I still haven't found the perfect one for my apartment but I LOVE the ones you show here! Call me crazy, but I think a room full of books is gorgeous!
