I'm Taking The Jump

Next big DIY project here at the Skinner household...
Painting the brick fireplace white!
I've finally convinced hubby, and it will do so much for giving our living room a lighter feel and look.

I found some great tips and instructions for painting a fireplace at Young House Love.

So gorgeous!

Have you ever painted your fireplace? Was it tougher than it sounds, or just as simple as you thought it would be? I'd love to hear any tips and see some before & after photos! xo

Oh, The Weather Outside Is Frightful!

It's an unusually cold day here in Texas...a high of 31 and a low of 15, and lets not forget the windchill! I know some of you from up north might be laughing at this southern girl but we rarely reach below freezing in Texas, let alone stay below freezing for several days. So because of these chilly and less than pleasing temperatures Molly and I are staying inside, cuddled in blankets in front of the fireplace.

Here are a few pictures of beautiful fireplaces that just make you want to stay at home and be lazy. So grab a cup of coffee or hot cocoa and enjoy!

Now these enclosed, gas fireplaces aren't going to provide
much warmth but they do look beautiful from all sides.

This modern steel fireplace makes quite a statement
and adds some practicality with the shelving unit built into the side.

I absolutely adore this room. I just want to curl up
under one of those blankets and take a nice, long nap.

And my favorite! I love this outdoor fireplace, I definitely want one in my next house.
It's perfect for entertaining on those chilly nights
