May & June Favorite

I just realized that I forgot to post a monthly favorite for the month of May. May was a busy month with school ending, finals, and a wonderful one-year anniversary vacation with my hubby. So this "Monthly Favorites" post will include my favorites for the months of May and June.

First up, lets here it for May. May is the month that I was married in, and one of my main wedding colors was the color yellow. Therefore, I often associate the color of yellow with the month of May. Plus, to me, nothing says "Hello, Summer!" more than the color yellow. So how about a few yellow favorites of mine...

Now it's time for June! While it is certainly warm and summery by May here in Texas, the summer heat is in full swing by the time June hits. This weekend we're looking to break weather records by reaching 100 degrees out this early in June...so guess what I'll be in all summer? Some super cute little swimsuits like these!

Dots and Spots...Part 2

I recently posted about my love for polka dots, but was frustrated when I began to look for polka dot inspiration and found nothing but nurseries and kids rooms...although those rooms were adorable, I wanted some polka dots that I could practically use in my own home right now. So thanks to a little help from Anna of Lona de Anna and a little more serious searching I've come out with some great polka dot inspiration...for the young and old! Enjoy.

Isn't this dining room china cabinet gorgeous? It is such a subtle and classy way to bring polka dots into a room.

These tins would be perfect for a retro styled kitchen!

This polka dotted ottoman is tastefully mixed in with other prints.

Polka dot pillows are a great way to add a fun vibe.

I love the look of this room..these curtains and pillows have a polka dotted appearance but when you look closely you can see that the dots are actually flowers.

I love this polka dotted 'C', it's fun and easy and would look super cute in a kids room.

Check out this funky nursery...love the polka dotted rug...another really easy way to add a little fun to a room

Spots, Spots, Spots

Today I took my Great Dane puppy dog, Molly, to the field behind our house. I live in a rapidly growing town named Mansfield in Texas, and while our 3 bedroom, 2 bath home is pretty much in the suburbs...we've been blessed to have a huge field right behind our back fence. I absolutely love this as it speaks to my small-town, country girl vibe, the field still has a main street on the other side, but oh well...close enough. Here's a pictures of my puppy dog (yes, she's still a puppy...only 7 months old) playing in that field...

Aren't her spots beautiful? That is one thing that I absolutely love about her. Many people mistake Molly for a dalmatian because of how many spots she has.

Well anyways, watching Molly run around the field made me think. I absolutely love her spots and I love spots in general. My most favorite dress that I own is red with white polka dots. But what about polka dots and spots in decor? When I got home I surfed the web for ideas and rooms that incorporate dots & spots but most of the rooms that I found were baby's nursery's.

So what do y'all think? Can dots & spots be used in decor without looking cheesy or like a baby's nursery? Do any of y'all have pictures of rooms like this? If you do, send em to me...I'd love some inspiration!!
