My Christmas Rendition

A couple of posts ago, I posted this picture from Country Living,
and stated that I was gonna recreate a little something like this.

And here is my rendition...

I quickly learned that Christmas light bulbs are pretty expensive...on average I was looking at about 50 cents to a dollar for each bulb. And while that price might be okay for a few bulbs, I needed at least 20 and I wasn't willing to pay that kind of money.

Luckily, Target was selling these tiny tubes of 10 glittery styrofoam ornaments, so I bought two tubes and filled up this vase that I already owned. The vase sits on a little bookshelf in my living room. The bookshelf holds all of my school books during the school year.

Nice & easy...my favorite kind of decor. My rendition is obviously really different to the original picture, and it's really similar to a lot of ornament arrangements, but that's okay...I'm lovin' it!

Okay...now back to that paper. Love to all. x

PS: I am looking for a completed DIY project for next week's Turnaround Tuesday. Please email me if you're interested...my email is under my "contact me" heading to the right.

Wonderful Wreaths

We all love the traditional Christmas wreath. Big, full, and green with a red bow?
Yes, you know it...and there is absolutely nothing wrong with it.
In fact, I'm searching for the perfect one for the window at the front of my house.
BUT, how about a little love for the different and kinda funky wreaths out there?
I think they deserve it.

Button wreath.
Felt wreath.
Wreath made from book pages.
Ribbon wreath.
Gorgeous feather wreath.

The ornament wreath and feather wreath are my favorites.
What's your favorite(s)?

Christmas Inspiration

Everyone is getting in the holiday spirit and sharing beautiful images that they have found, and I thought...why not join in? Check out these beauties...

I love this idea of using Christmas cards to create a little wreath...I'm thinkin' I might try it!
Okay..I just love this room. The touches of Christmas are perfect, but the original decor is still intact.

I'm actually planning on using this idea..just have to pick up a few more boxes of bulbs.
I'll be sure to show you when I'm done!

Christmas in July...well okay, February

I was rather embarrassed today when I  noticed that there are still several small Christmas decorations around my house...don't you hate when you thought you got it all packed away and then find more? And not to mention that it's February and I just noticed it...oh my. I was talking to my Mom, laughing about it and she assured me that there are some people who leave certain Christmas decorations up year round. For instance, my Mom has a small little painting in her house that is Santa through the seasons; it isn't bright red and green, in fact, it's navy blue, gold, and maroon so it doesn't really stick out during the non-Christmas months. This made me feel a little better...well not really, but that's okay.

So, I just thought I'd ask do any of you guys have any Christmasy decorations that stay up and out in your home year round or do you get it all put away, being sure that you didn't miss anything?

Merry Christmas!

Of course all of you know that tomorrow is Christmas Eve. Which means...lots and lots of food, family, fires in the fireplace, presents, sweets, and hopefully a little time to just "be."  This will be my last post till after the New Year. I'm vowing to take a break from everything that the internet entails, but that doesn't necessarily mean that I'll take a break from scouring over magazines and other things for inspiration. I encourage each of you to take a break from the world of phones, television, and internet as well...sometimes we all need a little bit of time away, and what better time than the holidays? Here are a few beautiful holiday pictures to gaze upon...

How cute is this idea? Found here from Katie Bower at All Bower Power. Numbering your gifts starting at 1 for the smallest gifts and going higher in number as the gifts get larger. Adorable. My only question...what about the "big," beautiful gifts that come in a small box...are they adorned with a lower or higher number? ;)

Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays, and all that jazz! See you guys in the new year.

Cute & Easy Christmas Table Runner

I recently found this adorable and super simple idea for a Christmas table runner here. All it takes is a piece of burlap and a few scraps of fun fabric. The instructions suggest using those few pieces of fabric scraps to cut Christmas shapes out of and then attach those pieces to the burlap runner, but I also thought it might be really fun and easy to buy a few Christmas sponge stamps to create the shapes. Dip em in paint & go. For all of you with kiddos out there, using the sponge stamps could be a great and easy way to get them involved in this little craft.

So adorable! I hope to have some time to try this little craft out this week, although I won't be able to leave it out on my table for too long, if not this year...definitely next year!
